Night Run Arx Asdrubalis
THE NIGHT RACE OF THE CHOSEN ONES
Increasingly established, the Arx Asdrubalis Night Race has over 2,000 registrations year after year. Part of the activities framework of the Carthaginians and Romans festivities, this race has been well received since its inception, attracting both festival participants and non-participants annually in May to run and hike through the city of Cartagena. With charitable goals in mind, the proceeds are donated to associations and nonprofit organizations in the Murcia Region.
Although the route is modified each year, the course is designed to visit the five hills of our city: “Mons Saturnus,” “Mons Aletes,” “Mons Vulcanus,” “Mons Arx Asdrubalis,” and “Mons Esculapii,” hills that are very representative of our festivities.
The Arx Asdrubalis Night Race, organized by the Federation of Carthaginians and Romans in collaboration with the Department of Sports and the City Council of Cartagena, is typically divided into three events in which everyone can participate in one way or another:
- The 2K Race for “Young Warriors”: In this event, children up to 10 years old race at full speed on a 2-kilometer loop through the city.
- 10K Hiking March: This event is quite popular, as it features a more relaxed pace for a 10-kilometer hike that coincides with the main route of the Arx Asdrubalis Night Race.
- 10K Race: The main event, this race requires significant physical ability, as the constant changes in elevation while climbing the five hills will challenge even the toughest warrior.
