Under the name Federation of Troops and Legions of the Carthaginians and Romans Festivities of Cartagena, an Association was established on June 15, 1993, under the protection of Organic Law 1/2002, of March 22, governing the Right of Association and complementary regulations, with legal personality and full capacity to act, without profit motive.

Federation of Troops and Legions of the Carthaginians and Romans

Currently, the Federation is presided over by Jose Antonio Meca from the Sagunto Legion, with Eduardo José Conesa from the Tartessos Kingdom Troop serving as the executive vice president. Along with the growth of the Carthaginians and Romans festivities, the Board of Directors has also evolved in recent years, now divided into five major areas, each led by a vice president.
  • Juan A. Andújar is vice president of the Resources and Internal Management Area.
  • Mariano Pérez is vice president of the Festivities Area.
  • Javier Alcaraz is vice president of the Economic Area.
  • Mónica Sánchez is vice president of the External Relations Area.

Additionally, two strong branches emerge from the Federation, responsible for directing, coordinating, and acting directly with the troops and legions. The Carthaginian Council works tirelessly to lead the Carthaginian Troops. On the other hand, the Roman Senate extraordinarily directs the Roman Legions.

As a side note, it is a mandatory requirement for anyone holding a position on the various boards to be a member of one of the different troops or legions.

The evolution

Under the various leadership teams, a large number of coordinators and members work behind the scenes to manage all the necessary details for the realization of our spectacular festivities, which are constantly growing and now have more than 30 years of history. Throughout this exponential growth, countless achievements have been made that have shaped the future and recognition of the Carthaginians and Romans Festivities at the regional, national, and international levels.

Although they were born three years earlier as festive groups, it wasn’t until 1993 that the Federation, the Carthaginian Council, and the Roman Senate were created, giving the festivities an association-based structure. This gave rise to the organization we see today, where the Federation is completely renewed every four years through elections in which the current 50 groups vote. In contrast, the Council and Senate renew their positions every three years, with voting limited to their respective groups (Carthaginian troops and Roman legions).

Year after year, the festive groups continue to grow, and the leadership teams keep improving their processes while seeking constant promotion. We continue to work on gaining visibility in all possible areas through posters, photography, radio, television, press, websites, social media, exhibitions, sports, and contests.

Only those who love their history
are capable of sharing it.
